We are very excited to announce that renowned cake artist Sori Jeong is joining the academy in 2018 to teach level 1 – 5 in buttercream piping.
 
LEVEL 1: Come and join us in this beginner class and learn all the basics about butter cream piping. You can learn and practise with us creating a selection of 9 different, creative and visually stunning cupcakes and with a little practise you will be able to translate everything you learn in this class onto your own cake creations. 

Learn a variety of different piping techniques, creating a total of 9 different designs that are versatile in their application. 
 
All our students are hands-on and work on their own cupcakes. A detailed step-by-step manual is provided to ensure that students can recreate the designs again and again.   

This course is a great introduction to cake designed and open for anyone interested in the subject matter, no prior knowledge required. You will leave this class with 9 beautifully decorated, detailed cupcakes that will surely impress. 

What you will learn

  • how to make perfectly textured Italian meringue buttercream, step-by-step demo
  • how to achieve natural colour tone using gel colouring
  • how to ice the cupcakes using a pallet knife in 2 different ways
  • how to hold and use a piping bag properly
  • what different piping nozzles are used for in cake decorating
  • how to pipe flowers directly onto cupcakes
  • Learn basic flower piping skills and decorations including:
    • rosette
    • pom pom flower
    • two types of hydrangeas
    • leaf wreath
    • big rose
    • cherry blossom
    • moonstone succulent. 

All students take home their set of 9 cupcakes, all materials are included in the cost of the course. 
 
All equipment and nozzles required in class are provided by the academy.

Students have the opportunity to purchase cake-decorating equipment including nozzles direct in our online store. 

Our level 1 to 5 classes are structured in such a way that allows students to learn the skills step-by-step, incorporating many different techniques and flower combinations that will encourage you to use your own creativity and design some magnificent cakes. Each level builds onto the next, creating “edible art” in the process! 

We are introducing a set of new piping techniques and cake designs in our 2018 classes that we are sure will impress. Providing the opportunity for students to not only learn the skills in our classes and create beautiful designs but also achieve high quality outcomes. In order to get the best results, we highly recommend that students practise in-between levels.
