Marbled Cake

The ability to make delicate sugar flowers from gum paste and assemble them into beautiful flower arrangements is an important skill to have for every accomplished cake decorator.

We teach sugar flower foundation skills as part of our Cake Decorating Intensive, 5-day foundation skills course and we build and expand on these skills in our Cake decorating intensive, 5-day intermediate level course.

This new course provides students with the opportunity to learn how to make a beautiful flower arrangement from start to finish that will not only impress, but also covers a selection of flowers that are popular and versatile. 

What you will learn: 

  • how to make gum paste, class demo
  • how to colour icing to achieve a marbled effect 
  • how to cover a 7 inch round dummy cake with fondant 
  • how to set up a cake and cover a cake board with icing 
  • how to make sugar flowers from start to finish:
    • roses in various sizes 
    • rose buds 
    • hydrangeas 
    • berries 
    • leaves and foliage 
  • how to colour sugar flowers using a variety of techniques 
  • how to set up a sugar flower arrangement on a cake 

Course hours: 

  • Day 1: 9am to 3pm 
  • Day 2: 9am to 1pm

All students are hands-on and work on their own flowers. 

You will leave this class with your very own flower arrangement in hand as well as a detailed step-by-step manual.

All materials are included in the cost of the course.
