In this class, you will learn essential baking foundation skills that provide the basis of any good traditional hot cross buns. The recipes learned in this class will provide you with a good understanding of the product and how to create your own combinations. 

What you will learn:  

  • making hot cross bun dough and cross mix 
  • mixing, hand kneading, cutting and moulding techniques 
  • how to set up the correct baking temperature in the oven 
  • baking techniques to achieve the perfect hot cross bun 
  • glazing and finishing techniques  
  • how and when to incorporate fruit into the dough
  • how and when to incorporate chocolate into the dough 

Each student will make and take home the following: 
Approx. 20 Hot Cross Buns 

  • Traditional hot cross buns
  • Choc-chip hot cross buns 

Everything created in this class is for students to take home; all materials are included in the cost of the course. A detailed recipe book is provided as part of this course.
