Christmas Buttercream Cake

Build on your foundation skills by learning how to create this beautiful festive cake, using two different styles of buttercream.
All students are hands on and work on their own cake. Students will have time to practice the outcomes as well as get tutor support throughout the day.

All the techniques and outcomes taught in this class are interchangeable and can easily be transferred onto cupcakes.

A detailed step-by-step manual is provided to ensure that students can recreate the designs again and again.   

What you will learn:

  • how to make 2 different types of buttercream
  • how to fill and stack a cake
  • how to crumb coat the cake neatly
  • how to finish the masking with a Christmas look
  • how to achieve colour tone using gel colouring
  • how to use various piping tools and handle a piping bag to achieve the desired outcome
  • how to control your palm pressure to achieve clean edges
  • learn the concept of spinning a flower nail
  • how to pipe a flower onto a flower nail, transfer and arrange them onto a cake in the form of a Christmas wreath using a flower lifter
  • this class will cover how to pipe intricate flowers including: 
    • hydrangeas bunch
    • cotton wool
    • pinecone
    • leaf

All students take home their own cake, all materials are included in the cost of the course.

Entry Requirements

Suitable for those that have completed our “buttercream piping and creative floral designs – level 1” course or have prior experience with piping techniques.
