Creating buttercream flowers, foundations level 2

LEVEL 2: This class is designed for students that have already some basic piping skills, know how to hold a piping bag properly and are able to us a variety of nozzles. In this class you will learn the foundation skills of piping buttercream flowers.

All students are hands on and work on their own cupcake selection. Students will have time to practice their piping skills to perfect their flowers as well as get tutor support throughout the day.

All the techniques and flowers taught in this class are interchangeable and can easily be transferred onto a cake. 

A detailed step-by-step manual is provided to ensure that students can recreate the designs again and again.   

What you will learn:

  • how to make perfectly textured Italian meringue buttercream, step by step demo
  • how to achieve natural colour tone using gel colouring
  • how to ice cupcakes smoothly with the use of a spatula
  • how to use various piping tools and handle a piping bag to achieve the desired outcome
  • how to angle your work in different ways depending on the various piping nozzles used
  • learn the concept of spinning a flower nail
  • how to pipe the design onto a flower nail, transfer and arrange the designs onto a cupcake with the use of a flower lifter
  • how to pipe designs directly onto a cupcake
  • this class will cover how to pipe intricate flowers including: 
    • mini rose
    • apple blossom
    • daisy
    • chrysanthemum
    • scabiosa
    • mini Freesia 

All students take home their set of 6 cupcakes, all materials are included in the cost of the course. 

Students have the opportunity to purchase cake-decorating equipment including nozzles direct in our online store

Our classes are structured in such a way that allows students to learn the skills step-by-step, incorporating many different techniques and flower combinations that will encourage you to use your own creativity and design some magnificent cakes. Each level builds onto the next, creating “edible art” in the process!
